The history of my time in fandom and the internet.
Huh. School + internet has totally fried my brain. (As [info]pearshateraqui can attest. Unreadable typos = very worrying.)

I've spent half of today trying to trace the history of my website - you know, when it started, when each host died - and it's far more complicated than it should be. I've also discovered that Brinkster is not the fourth host of mine to go mad, but the fifth! There's was another one I'd completely forgotten about. Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out exactly when I started my website (or, more specifically, my Artemis Fowl website).

The earliest version of it I can find was on my Angelfire site, but that version was an entirely reworked one from another in a different place on the same site - and Angelfire only lists the last edited date. So I know for sure that it's existed since at least February 23rd, but cannot find any reference to when or where the first version was - and it could be a heck of a lot earlier, as other parts of that site have existed since August 2001. (It wouldn't surprise me to know that I had an AF fansite then, as I was certainly in the fandom at the time. Although the fact that my site would therefore be four years old is rather surprising.) But I can't find a copy of it on Archive.org either (nor of several older versions of my website) so I haven't worked it out yet.

I've been checking all of the old email groups I used to belong to, to see if I mentioned the site/its content prior to February 23rd... All I've found so far is a message on Feb 23 that says "new version today" and a bunch of much older emails with the same URL in my sig.

In other news, I've been having an, err, interesting day in other fandom ways... But I'm not so sure I want to talk about that. *sighs*
